Language preference
When you choose a language, palazzo.language in sessionStorage keeps that choice for the current browsing session. palazzo.autoLanguage is also sessionStorage and prevents repeated automatic language selection during the same session. These session entries end with that session. Only if you enable “Remember my preferences” is palazzo.language also saved in localStorage for later visits, while your permission remains valid, for up to six calendar months.
Animation preference
When you pause or resume the background film under Display preferences in the concierge panel, palazzo.motion in sessionStorage remembers the choice for the current browsing session. Only if you enable “Remember my preferences” is that choice also saved in localStorage for later visits, while your permission remains valid, for up to six calendar months. You can always use the video controls without enabling optional storage.
Administrator session
__Host-PM_ADMIN is a secure, HTTP-only, same-site cookie used for protected administrator access. It is not required to browse public pages. It has a browser-session lifetime; administrator authentication also has server-side expiry and inactivity limits.
Advertising and analytics
The public website currently has no advertising cookies, analytics trackers, embedded third-party video player or external web-font request. Media and fonts are served from this domain. If optional tracking is introduced, this notice and the relevant consent controls must be updated before it is used.
Your controls
Open Privacy settings in the footer at any time to review or change your choice. Optional storage is off by default. Choose Essential only, leave the optional box unchecked and save, or close the panel to continue with essential storage only. This also withdraws any previous permission and removes persistent language and video preferences; your current-session choices remain available. You can change the language in the header and the video setting under Display preferences in the concierge panel. Your browser’s site-data controls can delete this domain’s cookies, localStorage and sessionStorage. Clearing site data may sign you out of protected areas; blocking all cookies may prevent administrator sign-in.
Recording your privacy choice
palazzo.privacy records the notice version, your choice and the time of that choice and its expiry. It is kept in localStorage, or sessionStorage if persistent storage is unavailable, so the site can respect your choice. A persistent record expires after six calendar months. On your next visit after expiry, the site clears any old optional language and video preferences and asks you to choose again. This record applies only to this browser on this device and is not sent to an external service. Clearing site data removes the record and brings back the choice panel on a later visit.
Choosing a language on this website
An explicit language choice takes priority. On the English homepage, the site can use a saved choice or a supported browser language. If neither provides a supported language, a same-domain country lookup can provide an approximate fallback when available. A country signal cannot reliably identify a person’s preferred language, especially when using a VPN or travelling.
Direct links to a language version or an individual article remain in the requested language. Every supported language is also available from the header. This avoids moving you away from a page you deliberately opened.
